Tour Policies

Length of Tours

Walk Cornwall promises to give you what we consider an interesting tour throughout the agreed time period. In the event of Walk Cornwall failing to provide a tour for the agreed length of time a partial or full refund may be given at the discretion of Walk Cornwall based on how long a tour was provided, based on; less than half the agreed time = 50%-100% refund, 2 hours less than the agreed time = 25%-50% refund, within 2 hours of the agreed time 0%-25% refund, within 30 minutes of agreed time = 0% refund.

However, if the client wishes or agrees to cut a tour short for any reason during the tour no refund will be issued. For the comfort of our clients we usually offer a short-cut back to the start point (or other alternative routs/unplanned routes) should the client feel they would prefer to finish the tour early (for example due to tiredness, weather or other commitments) and in this case no refund will be given.

What you will see & do

Walk Cornwall will show you as many different things as possible at the time. Unfortunately, we can never guarantee what can be seen on the day. Walk Cornwall makes no guarantees that you will see any particular thing during your tour, and your tour and routes may be adjusted at the time for various reasons. No refund will be given in these circumstances as Walk Cornwall is not able to promise or guarantee what you will see. Some examples of possible difficulties have been listed below;

• Wildlife (plants and animals) are seasonal and may not be in the area of your tour at that time of year. Some wildlife is weather dependant and may not be visible on the day of your tour.

• Some geology is only visible at low tide and may not be accessible on the day of your tour. During rough seas or bad weather it may be deemed unsafe to visit some geological outcrops.

• Bad weather, such as mist and fog, may spoil an otherwise beautiful view.

• Routes may be adjusted due to weather conditions such as avoiding unfenced cliffs in windy conditions or slippery rocks in wet conditions. Your safety is our priority and we will make any adjustments we feel necessary to ensure your safety.

• Paths may be closed due to unforeseen circumstances such as unstable ground, fallen trees or flooding.

What we consider an interesting tour

We aim that you will be interested and entertained throughout your tour with us and Calum is locally famous for his field trips and tours. The focus will be on what we see around us during the tour, including the geology, archaeology & history, plants & animals, and also some Cornish Legends and stories about Cornwall. If these are not the sort of things that interest you we apologise and hope you can find a more suitable tour for your interests.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome on our tours but, due to the locations we visit, must be kept on a short lead at all times without exception. You are required to clean up after your dog throughout the tour without exception. Some tours include dog friendly beaches (though they are banned from many Cornish Beaches in Summer months) where well behaved dogs can be let off the lead. In particular you should be aware;

• Dogs must be kept on a short lead on open moorland by Law - no exceptions

• Dogs must be kept on a short lead on farmland by Law - no exceptions

• Dogs must be kept on a short lead in nature reserves by Law - no exceptions

• Dogs are banned from some nature reserves by Law - no exceptions (we will plan an alternative route for you)

Should you not keep your dog on a lead when requested to do so (no matter how well behaved the dog) or fail to clean up after your dog the tour will be abandoned and no refund will be issued.

Damage, Vandalism, Littering and Harm to Wildlife

Walk Cornwall aims to show you lots of interesting and unusual ancient monuments, geological outcrops and wildlife during your tour. Many of these are protected by Law (Registered Monuments, SSSI’s, Nature Reserves etc.). We wish to have as little impact as possible during our tours and will not tolerate any damage or harm to ancient monuments, geological outcrops or wildlife. In the event of damage being caused we will abandon the tour, and no refund will be issued. We also do not tolerate littering and the tour will be abandoned (and no refund will be given) if you refuse to pick up your litter.

Cancellation Policies

If you cancel a tour:

If you cancel a tour more than 48 hour before it was due to start you are guaranteed to be given a full refund. Should you cancel less than 48 hours before the tour was due to start, regardless of reason, you will not normally be given any refund. However, should we be able to make an alternative booking on the day your tour was due to occur we will happily give you a full refund.

If we cancel a tour:

Walk Cornwall will give you a full refund. However, we will not give you any further compensation for your inconvenience.

If we are unable to contact you:

After you make a booking we will contact you to discuss the tour and make adjustments to suit your level of fitness, what you would like to see, and the interests of the members of your party (e.g. adding more items of interest to children or more unusual geology if someone is particularly interested). If we have not been able to contact you for some reason (e.g. your phone number is incorrect or not working) prior to the trip we will cancel the trip and give you a full refund. Be aware, we will try to contact you within 24 hours of you making a booking but where the booking was made at short notice this may be difficult, but we will make every reasonable effort to contact you. Mutually agreed cancellation

Walk Cornwall will contact you prior to your tour to discuss your particular requirements, how far you wish to walk, and what you want to see. If, during our discussion, we mutually agree that the tour is not suitable for you (for example we would not be able to deliver the experience you expected) we will cancel the booking and give you a full refund.

Mutually agreed change of tour

Walk Cornwall will contact you prior to your tour to discuss your particular requirements, how far you wish to walk, and what you want to see. If, during our discussion, we mutually agree that an alternative tour would be more suitable we will happily make this change for you. You will pay the full price of the alternative tour we have agreed upon and issue you a refund/invoice for any difference in price from the tour you originally booked.

Weather cancellations

Weather is unpredictable and nice conditions cannot be guaranteed. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the tour is due start will not normally receive a refund due to unfavourable weather with the following exceptions;

• If a red weather warning has been issued for when the tour is planned to occur the trip will be cancelled and a full refund will be issued. Safety is our priority.

• If an amber weather warning has been issued for when the tour is planned to occur the trip is very likely to be cancelled and if so a full refund will be issued. This will depend on the nature of the weather warning and whether it could impact on the safety of the tour. Safety is our priority.

• If a yellow weather warning has been issued for when the tour is planned to occur the trip is may be cancelled and if so a full refund will be issued. This will depend on the nature of the weather warning and whether it could impact on the safety of the tour. Safety is our priority.

• If no weather warning has been issued but we deem the conditions to be dangerous when the tour is planned to occur the trip will be cancelled and a full refund will be issued, unless we can mutually agree a change to a different tour. In which case the “Mutually agreed change of tour” policy above will apply. This will depend on the nature of the weather and whether it could impact on the safety of the tour. Safety is our priority.
