Our tours are not set in stone, we tailor each walk to your personal abilities, ranging from a slow gentle stroll to an invigorating hike. By contacting you before the tour we can determine exactly how best to adjust the speed and distance to suit your wishes whilst showing you beautiful, fascinating parts of Cornwall. Our tours are fun & enjoyable rather than a gruelling challenge - unless that’s what you want!
Experienced
Calum has led hundreds of field trips in Cornwall from Primary Schools & University Students to amateur geologists and walking for health groups. His engaging & interesting walks, combined with his knowledge of geology, archaeology, nature and legends keep everyone entertained regardless of age or knowledge. Calum has led trips in all the weather Cornwall can throw at him, but hopes for nice sunny days!
Qualified
Not just a first aider, Calum is a First Aid Instructor with FAW Cornwall, teaching Outdoor & Remote courses nationally. He is a qualified Moorland Walk Leader and former member of Cave & Mine Rescue, as a first responder and rope access specialist. He has also attained qualifications in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education, Health & Safety and Risk Assessments to keep you safe throughout your tour.
Prices are per private tour (not per person), regardless of the number of attendees. Generally this will be small family or friend groups, but if you have a group of over 25 attendees we ask that you have a trained first aider in your group to assist the trip leader in an emergency.
Prices do not include parking, food or drink.
Children are very welcome. Any child under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a short lead at all times (no matter how well behaved) and you must clean up after them.

Our Tours
A tour around the Minions area of Bodmin Moor. Visit and learn about the prehistoric monuments of The Hurlers, Rillaton Barrow and Stowes Pound. Calum has worked as a geological advisor for two investigations into the Hurlers and has in depth knowledge about their creation. The tour includes the copper and tin mines of Phoenix Mine and South Caradon, the geological formation of this wealth and the lives of the miners that worked them. Also get to visit the granite quarries of Gold Diggings and Cheesewring, Daniel Gumbs Cave, The Cheesewring and much more.
A tour combining an interesting walk with an easy to follow explanation of why Coverack is a fascinating geological location of worldwide importance. From beach to countryside, farmland to coast path this has a little of everything. This tour includes passing through the famous Roskilly’s farm shop around lunch time for a refreshment break. This is the only location in the UK mainland where the ‘Moho,’ the transition between the lower crust and the mantle, can be seen. Find examples of the rare mantle rocks and have it all carefully explained by an experienced geologist who taught this to students at the University of Exeter.
From the gentle woodlands at Tehidy to the seaside at Portreath and the wild Atlantic coast at North Cliffs this walks really covers a range of environments. The squirrels at Tehidy have become so tame they will eat out your hand and, if you are lucky, so might a great tit or a robin. Regularly we get to see the rare and beautiful Jay in their natural habitat in these woods. A lovely walk through the woods and farmland takes us to the seaside village of Portreath for refreshments. Then the tour heads up onto the wild North Cliffs, exposed to the harsh Atlantic Ocean, with it’s rare heathland plants and butterflies.
What trip to Cornwall would be complete without visiting the world famous Botallack Mine with it’s engine houses perched above the wild Atlantic Ocean? Our tour follows the story of Cornish mining and miners along the rugged cliffs past the old mines of Botallack, Levant and the more modern mine at Geevor. Take a look around the beautiful cove and headland at Cape Cornwall with an explanation of the geology that formed the mineral wealth of St.Just. This trip does not include entry to either Levant or Geevor but if you wish we will adjust the tour to allow you time to visit these mines, but you will need to pay the entry fees.
There’s a lot more to see and do at Lizard Point than just strolling out to the headland and back, in fact you will be missing some of the most interesting places and beautiful views. From Lizard Village we take a stunning circular walk either starting or ending with Kynance Cove (depending on tides) before returning to Lizard Village. This intricate walk includes Church Cove, the new and the old lifeboat stations, Housel Bay, Lizard Lighthouse, Kynance Cove, Soap Rock and a stroll through the Lizard National Nature Reserve to see rare plants and animals.
